Two brothers drowned while taking bath in a lake at Jallapara City Park in Narayanganj on Friday night.
The deceased were identified as Al Amin, 10, and Ibrahim, 8, sons of rickshaw puller Shah Alam from Dattakandi village in Sirajganj district.
They had been living as tenants in the Kashipur Khilmarket area of Narayanganj. Their bodies were recovered from the lake by locals around 12:30am.
Family members said the two brothers left home in the afternoon, telling relatives they were going to a nearby fair, but did not return.
After an extensive search, relatives found their clothes and shoes near the lakeside and called for help. Locals then joined the search and recovered the bodies from the water.
The children were rushed to Narayanganj General Hospital, where doctors declared them dead on arrival.
