A 17-year-old boy has been detained after a crude bomb-like device exploded outside the Election Commission office in Agargaon, Dhaka late Saturday.
Police said the blast took place around 11:30pm, prompting officers on patrol nearby to rush to the scene.
Tejgaon Division Deputy Commissioner of Police Ibne Mizan said a group of miscreants set off an object resembling a crude bomb outside the building and attempted to flee. Officers chased them and apprehended one suspect.
He said the detainee, aged 17, is being questioned and police are conducting further operations based on the information gathered.
