BNP’s Central Legal Affairs Secretary and Netrokona-1 candidate Kaiser Kamal has said that a new agricultural revolution will take place in the country under the leadership of Tarique Rahman.
“If the BNP comes to power, a new agricultural revolution will take place under the leadership of Tarique Rahman. Ziaur Rahman’s canal-digging programme will also be revived,” he said.
Kamal made the remarks on Saturday afternoon at a gathering titled “Krishi Kotha” held at the Nazirpur Eidgah field in Khalmakanda upazila of Netrokona. The programme was organised to listen to farmers, inform them, and discuss transformative changes in the agricultural sector alongside improving farmers’ living standards.
The event began with prayers seeking the recovery of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia.
Presided over by Upazila BNP President M A Khayer and conducted by former Central JCD Vice-President Azmal Hossain Pilot and Upazila BNP General Secretary and Lengura Union Parishad Chairman Mohammad Saidur Rahman Bhuiyan, the gathering featured former Upazila BNP President Wazed Ali Khan Chashi as the chief guest.
As chief discussant, Kaiser Kamal said, “This farmers’ gathering has been organised to understand farmers’ problems and show them the path to development. We want to work on modern agricultural management, higher yields, and improving the livelihoods of farmers.”
Thousands of farmers from different unions joined the event. Agricultural discussions were led by Professor Md Shafiullah Majumdar of Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University, Professor Ahmed Khairul Hasan of Bangladesh Agricultural University, and former Australia BNP Organising Secretary Habibur Rahman.
Speakers included former Upazila BNP conveners Md Kamal Uddin Firoz and Abdus Salam Keron, former Nazirpur Union BNP President Aftab Uddin Chowdhury, former Durgapur Upazila BNP President Imam Hasan Abu Chan, President Md Zahirul Alam Bhuiyan, General Secretary Md Awlad Hossain and Municipal BNP General Secretary Md Harej Gani Talukder.
