The Delhi High Court has granted Bollywood actor Tabu interim protection against the unauthorised use of her name, image, voice and other personality attributes, including through AI, deepfakes and face-morphing technology.
Justice Jyoti Singh passed the ex-parte interim order after Tabu alleged that her identity was being commercially exploited online without consent.
The court directed Google, Meta, X and Reddit to remove or disable access to more than 150 identified URLs carrying allegedly unauthorised content involving the actor.
The order also covers her stage name, real name Tabassum Jamal Hashmi, photographs, movie stills, voice recordings, signatures and other identifiable attributes across websites, apps, social media and virtual platforms.
Tabu had also raised concerns over manipulated obscene content, fake social media accounts and unauthorised merchandise using her identity.
The court found a prima facie case in her favour and said continued misuse could cause irreparable harm to her reputation, privacy and commercial interests.
