The Yemeni army said Friday that it had conducted 474 operations against Houthi targets on several fronts over the previous 24 hours, claiming that 1,540 members of the group were killed or wounded.
Military spokesman Majed Abdullah al-Nazili said the operations involved warplanes, drones, artillery, missiles and rocket launchers, targeting Houthi positions, movements, reinforcements and military capabilities.
Nazili added that the operations were carried out across fronts stretching from southern Haradh and the coast to Kitaf, Al-Jawf, Marib, Al-Bayda, Lahj, Sanaa and Saada, with particular emphasis on Taiz, reports Anadolu.
He said the army targeted what it described as sources of threats, Houthi gatherings and reinforcements, command-and-control centres, and other military capabilities.
Nazili claimed that 1,540 Houthi fighters were killed or wounded, with most of the casualties reported on the Taiz fronts. He also said 216 military vehicles and other assets were destroyed or damaged.
The spokesman said the operations had halted Houthi advances in Taiz and prevented the group from making a breakthrough on the ground.
The announcement came as fighting intensified in several parts of Yemen. Earlier on Friday, the army said its warplanes had carried out 20 strikes on Houthi movements and reinforcements in Taiz.
Government forces also reported strikes on what they described as high-value targets in Sanaa and Saada.
On Wednesday, the army said it had conducted 468 operations against Houthi fighters and military equipment on three fronts, claiming that hundreds of Houthi members had been killed or wounded.
The latest escalation is part of a broader military offensive that began in July and is the most extensive since a relative lull followed a truce in 2022.
Yemen has been embroiled in conflict since the Houthis seized Sanaa and several provinces in 2014. A Saudi-led coalition intervened in 2015 in support of the internationally recognised government.
