A Dhaka court on Monday granted a three-day remand for a key suspect in the murder of Swechchasebak Dal leader Azizur Rahman Musabbir.
Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Awlad Hossain Monzur issued the order on Monday after the investigating officer requested a seven-day remand.
State prosecutor Shamsuddoha Sumon confirmed the development.
The suspect Bilal, 17, was arrested on 11 January in connection with the killing, and a court subsequently granted him a seven-day remand.
Two other accused, Abdul Qader, 28, and Riaz, 31, are currently in seven-day remand, while another suspect, Zinnat, 24, has confessed in court to his involvement in the crime.
Police have said investigations are ongoing to apprehend other fugitive suspects and fully uncover the details of the murder.
According to case records, Musabbir, 45, former general secretary of Swechchasebak Dal’s Dhaka Metropolitan North unit, was shot dead on 7 January in an alley behind Star Kabab restaurant in Tejturi Bazar, Tejgaon.
Following the killing, his wife, Suraiya Begum, filed a murder case with Tejgaon Police Station against four to five unknown individuals.
