Popular actor Afran Nisho has cemented his position in Bangladeshi cinema, with growing anticipation around the sequel to his debut film ‘Surongo’.
Following the success of the first instalment, industry sources suggest that ‘Surongo 2’ could arrive in cinemas in December, provided production schedules remain on track.
Pre-production work on the film has already begun. However, the production houses Alpha i and Chorki are currently occupied with their ongoing project Dum, after which an official update on Surongo 2 is expected.
‘Surongo’, directed by Raihan Rafi, was released during Eid-ul-Azha 2023 and received strong responses from both audiences and critics. It performed notably well at the box office despite competition from the Shakib Khan-starrer ‘Priyotoma’, which released at the same time.
Nisho had earlier confirmed that discussions around a sequel were underway, although progress was briefly slowed due to health issues. He revealed that he had suffered ligament damage and spinal complications, which may require surgery.
The first film also featured Tama Mirza, Shahiduzzaman Selim and Mostafa Monwar in key roles.
