James Gunn is close to casting the role of Maxima for his upcoming ‘Man of Tomorrow’ sequel.
The Hollywood Reporter confirmed that Adria Arjona, Eva De Dominici, Sydney Chandler and Grace Van Patten are the four finalists. The actresses tested this week in Atlanta, where Gunn is preparing for the production. DC Studios declined to comment.
Maxima, introduced in Action Comics No. 645 in 1989, is an alien queen who has served as both an antagonist and potential love interest for Superman. David Corenswet will reprise his role as the superhero, joined by Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor and Lars Eidinger as Brainiac.
Returning cast members include Rachel Brosnahan, Skyler Gisondo, Sara Sampaio, Isabela Merced, Nathon Fillion and Edi Gathegi.
The sequel, written by Gunn, is set for release on July 9, 2027. It follows last year’s Superman, which earned $618.7 million globally, and precedes the release of Supergirl in June, in which Corenswet will appear.
