Nusraat Faria was left stranded in Istanbul after her flight to Dubai was cancelled, following a series of reported attacks involving Israel, the US and Iran that led to the closure of parts of Middle Eastern airspace.
Sharing her ordeal on her verified Facebook page on Saturday night, February 28, Faria described the day as “like a nightmare,” reflecting the tension and uncertainty she experienced at the airport.
“I was meant to travel from Istanbul to Dubai, but suddenly UAE airspace was closed. In an instant, everything came to a halt. Standing at the airport, it felt as if the world around me was changing; so much fear, so much uncertainty, so much pressure,” she wrote.
Despite the anxiety, Faria said she drew strength from her faith and the support of friends. She expressed gratitude to a friend and their family in Istanbul, who repeatedly checked on her wellbeing and ensured she remained safe during the chaotic situation.
“Even in this chaos, Allah’s mercy and the care of others kept me strong. I will never forget the love and support my friend and their family showed me today. Their presence prevented me from breaking down,” she added, sharing a photograph from the airport to illustrate the tense moment.
Faria later confirmed that she is now en route back to Dhaka. While the experience has left her heart heavy, she said she remains thankful and prayed for “a little more peace in the world.”
