Social media was filled with love, gratitude and emotional tributes on World Mother’s Day as celebrities from Bangladesh’s entertainment industry shared heartfelt memories and personal stories about their mothers.
While some remembered mothers they have lost, others expressed admiration for the women they consider their greatest source of strength and inspiration.
Veteran Dhallywood actor Omar Sani shared a rare old photograph of his mother and recalled an emotional memory from 1995, when he decided to marry actress Moushumi at their Mohakhali residence. According to the actor, it was his mother who called the kazi and arranged the marriage ceremony.
Remembering the moment, he wrote that they have remained together ever since “by the grace of Allah”. Paying tribute to his late mother, he added: “Infinite love for my mother on World Mother’s Day. Mother, I miss you so much.”
Actress Apu Biswas also marked the occasion with a symbolic post reflecting on motherhood. In her message, she described motherhood as “a sacred journey built on honesty, not secrecy or controversy”.
For actress Bidya Sinha Mim, this year’s Mother’s Day coincided with her mother’s birthday. Sharing several photographs together, she wrote: “Happy Birthday Mom. The queen of my life.”
Actress Shirin Shila expressed her affection in an emotional note, saying every day feels like Mother’s Day to her. She admitted that she had never openly said “I love you” to her mother before, adding that she was grateful for the opportunity to express it this year while also seeking forgiveness for her mistakes.
Meanwhile, actress Orchita Sporshia shared photographs with her mother and wrote: “Every day is Mother’s Day, and every mother deserves happiness every day.”
Actress Sunerah Binte Kamal also posted a heartfelt message for her mother, calling her “beauty, peace, strength, support and love”.
Several stars also highlighted the sacrifices their mothers made for their families and careers.
Popular actor Tawsif Mahbub recalled how his mother, Lutfa Mahbub, once left her executive position at Qatar Airways to focus on raising her children and managing the family. He said he had witnessed from childhood how his mother held the family together and described her contribution to his success as impossible to express in words. According to the actor, his mother is now his biggest fan.
Actress Sabnam Faria also reflected on her mother’s sacrifices. Her mother, Nargis Akter, reportedly left her job at icddr,b to ensure a better future for her daughters. The actress described her mother as the greatest blessing in her life and said such sacrifice for children is truly rare. She added that she hopes one day her mother will feel proud because of her achievements.
Actor Farhan Ahmed Jovan shared the story of his mother, Soheli Ahmed, a respected English teacher who left her profession to raise her children. He said his father had been living in New York City for many years, leaving his mother to manage the family alone. Calling her a “true warrior”, Jovan praised her resilience and dedication.
From emotional memories to heartfelt gratitude, celebrities across the entertainment industry used Mother’s Day to honour the unconditional love, sacrifice and strength of mothers, who remain enduring symbols of comfort, courage and devotion in every family.
