Students who fail in up to four subjects in the 2025 SSC examination will be able to participate in the 2026 board examination. They will receive their certificate by only taking and passing the exams for the subjects they failed.
Furthermore, students who registered in the 2021-22, 2022-23, and 2023-24 academic years but did not take the exam will also get the opportunity to take the exam this time. However, they must follow the full syllabus of 2025.
On Monday, Dhaka Education Board’s Examination Controller Professor SM Kamal Uddin Haider confirmed this information.
He said, “Old students from the 2023, 2024, and 2025 SSC batches from across the country can participate in the 2026 examination following the full 2025 syllabus. Only regular students will take the exam under the abridged syllabus.”
Detailed instructions on this matter were issued by the Dhaka Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education on Monday. The instructions state that, subject to the validity of their registration period, students from the 2025 batch will get the opportunity to take exams only in the subjects they failed. For this, they must apply on plain paper to the head of their respective educational institutions by December 3.
Additionally, students registered in the 2022-23 and 2023-24 academic years who did not participate in the 2024 and 2025 SSC examinations can also participate in the 2026 SSC examination as irregular candidates through their respective educational institutions.
The board is also offering a one-year renewal opportunity for students from the 2021-22 academic year whose registration period has expired but who are still failing in one subject (excluding the fourth subject), under special consideration. They must renew their registration period and participate in the 2026 SSC examination.
Everyone must participate in the 2026 SSC examination following the full syllabus of the 2025 SSC examination. Their GPA will be determined by adding the GPA of the subjects taken in the 2026 exam to their previous GPA.
Furthermore, students who passed the 2025 SSC examination but did not achieve a GPA-5 can also participate in the 2026 examination for improvement. If their GPA increases, it will be accepted as the result. Otherwise, the previous GPA will remain valid.
