Students at Chittagong University (CU) can now track shuttle trains in real time following the launch of a new mobile application called “Shuttle Train Tracker.”
The app was developed under an initiative by the Chittagong University Central Students’ Union (Cucsu).
Vice-Chancellor Professor Mohammad Al-Forkan officially inaugurated the application at a ceremony in the university’s Senate Room on Tuesday.
The inauguration ceremony was conducted by Cucsu Communication and Housing Secretary Md Ishak Bhuiyan.
Delivering his speech as the chief guest, the vice-chancellor said the administration is always alongside Chaksu and described the occasion as truly special.
He noted that Cucsu developed a highly beneficial, student-welfare-focused app named “Shuttle Train Tracker” so that students can easily locate the position of trains, expressing his sincere thanks to the developers who worked hard over a long period to bring the project to fruition.
He expressed hope that the initiative would remain a new milestone in the history of Chittagong University.
The inauguration was attended by Cucsu Treasurer Professor Md Alamgir, Vice-President (VP) Ibrahim Hossain Roni, General Secretary (GS) Sayeed Bin Habib, Assistant General Secretary (AGS) Ayubur Rahman Toufique, Co-Communication and Housing Secretary Obaidul Salman, alongside other Cucsu representatives.
Cucsu VP Roni remarked that the long-desired app was launched after a long wait, expressing hope that tracking live shuttle locations will prevent students from losing time due to unexpected incidents on the line.
He also extended sincere gratitude to Salman for leading the initiative.
Ishak highlighted that launching the shuttle tracker app was a key commitment in their election manifesto.
He added that the team worked persistently for five months to complete the app and expressed confidence that students would benefit greatly from it.
