BUBT Research Graduate School held a Vice Chancellor’s Lecture Series on Monday, 14 September 2026, at the BUBT International Conference Hall to examine the technologies, opportunities and challenges that may shape computing through 2035, the university said in a press release.
Mansura Habiba, Principal Platform Architect at IBM Software in Dublin, Ireland, delivered the keynote, titled “The Next Computing Era: What Should We Build for 2035?”, discussing the changing computing landscape and the technologies that may shape the next decade.
Habiba highlighted emerging trends, future opportunities and the challenges of building computing systems for 2035. Drawing on her experience in the global technology industry, she also stressed the importance of innovation, adaptability and research in preparing for the next era of computing.
BUBT Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr A B M Shawkat Ali attended the programme as chief guest, while BUBT Research Graduate School Dean (Acting) Prof Dr Md Ahsan Habib presided over the session as session chair. IBM Software Engineer Rafflesia Khan also attended and delivered a short speech.
Ali praised the initiative, saying such sessions contribute to the professional and intellectual development of BUBT’s academic community. He highlighted the need for research, innovation and practical knowledge to address future technological challenges.
He also encouraged the university community to think beyond existing technologies and work towards developing solutions that could contribute to the future of computing.
Faculty members, researchers, students and technology enthusiasts attended the lecture, which gave participants an opportunity to explore future directions in computing and discuss the technological possibilities and challenges that may emerge by 2035.
