Bangladesh University of Business and Technology (BUBT) organised a Freshers’ Reception for newly admitted students of Fall 2026 on Thursday at the university’s Sports Complex, welcoming students to the institution and introducing them to academic and student life.
The programme was attended by Md Shamsul Huda FCA, Member of the BUBT Trust, as the chief guest, while Professor Md Abu Saleh, Vice Chairman of the BUBT Trust and Advisor, BUBT, attended as the special guest. Professor Dr A B M Shawkat Ali, Vice Chancellor of BUBT, chaired the event.
BUBT Registrar Dr Md Harun-Or-Rashid delivered the welcome speech, followed by addresses from the Proctor, deans of BUBT Research Graduate School, Faculty of Computer Science & Artificial Intelligence, Faculty of Sciences & Engineering, Faculty of Arts, Humanities & Social Sciences, Faculty of Law and Faculty of Business & Economics.
The programme featured a quiz for newly admitted students, along with speeches from an existing student, a new student and a BUBT alumnus.
Md Shamsul Huda FCA encouraged the newcomers to remain focused on their academic journey and develop themselves as responsible members of society.
“Your time at the university should be used to acquire knowledge, develop skills and build the values needed for your future,” he said.
Professor Dr A B M Shawkat Ali welcomed the new students and urged them to actively participate in academic and extracurricular activities during their university life.
“I welcome all of you to BUBT and hope that you will make the most of your university life through learning, discipline, creativity and active participation,” he said.
The first session concluded with the Vice Chancellor’s speech, followed by prayers and a lunch break.
The second session featured cultural performances by the BUBT Cultural Club and ended with a musical performance by Lalon Band, giving newly admitted students an opportunity to enjoy a cultural celebration as they began their university journey.
