Bangladesh Railway has introduced special coaches for women passengers on select train services ahead of Eid-ul-Adha, following a directive issued by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman.
The special coaches have been added on the Dhaka–Sylhet–Dhaka route of the Jayantika Express and the non-stop Dhaka–Chattogram–Dhaka route of the Sonar Bangla Express to ensure safer and more comfortable travel for women during the Eid rush.
Bangladesh Railway Director General Md Afzal Hossain formally inaugurated the service yesterday. He saw off women passengers travelling in the special coach of the Jayantika Express from Kamalapur Railway Station.
According to BNP Media Cell, the special service began on Monday and will continue until Wednesday ahead of Eid.
