As the election draws near, unrest is emerging within parts of the administration and among some advisers, Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s secretary general Mia Golam Parwar has claimed.
He alleged that certain advisers are secretly coordinating with a particular party to help bring them to power.
Parwar made the remarks on Saturday morning while delivering the keynote address at a student-youth rally organised by the Paikgachha upazila unit Jamaat e Islami, held at the Paikgachha Government College ground.
Parwar outlined the party’s priorities if it comes to power, saying the first step would be to reform the existing education system to ensure education for all.
“Our first task will be to transform the existing education system so that everyone receives education,” he said. The second priority, he added, would be to declare a war against corruption and to build a society free from discrimination.
He emphasised the imperative of establishing true justice by incorporating the laws of the Quran into the legislative framework of the parliament.
According to him, the foundation of society must be aligned with the principles of the Quran to ensure fairness and moral governance. To achieve this goal, he called upon the electorate to vote conscientiously, urging them to vote for the “scale” symbol in the upcoming election.
“Previously there was a revolution against fascism; now we must bring about a revolution for good governance,” Parwar said. He asserted that unity among Islamic parties is growing and warned that such unity would marginalise others politically.
He also declared that if elected, Jamaat leaders would refuse to accept any government plots, vehicles, houses, or other benefits. At the same time, he challenged other political parties to make similar commitments.
Presided over by Paikgachha Upazila Ameer Maulana Saidur Rahman, the programme also featured as special guests Maulana Abul Kalam Azad , central working council member of Jamaat e Islami and the party’s candidate for Khulna 6 and Nurul Islam Saddam, secretary general of Bangladesh Islami Chhatra Shibir, along with other teachers and activists.
