Dubai has added another high-profile name to its skyline. On the far edge of Palm Jumeirah, ‘Atlantis the Royal’ is a 43-storey luxury resort, overlooking the Arabian Sea on one side and the city’s skyscrapers on the other.

The property opened in early 2023 with a launch designed to draw attention. The three-day programme featured a headline performance by Beyonce and a guest list that included Jay-Z, Kendall Jenner, Halle Bailey, Rebel Wilson and members of Dubai’s business and social circles.

Among the hotel’s 795 rooms, suites, and penthouses, one stands out, the Royal Mansion. Spread over two floors, it has four bedrooms, steam bathrooms, and a private cinema, a library, a bar, a game room, an infinity pool, and even olive trees in its entrance hall. The suite’s balconies look toward the Burj Khalifa, the Dubai Ferris Wheel, and the Arabian Gulf.

At $100,000 a night (around Tk 1.21 crore), the Royal Mansion is currently considered the most expensive hotel suite in the world, surpassing Las Vegas’ Empathy Suite. In its first year, Atlantis the Royal earned a five-star rating from the 2024 Forbes Travel Guide Star Awards and has hosted guests including footballer Cristiano Ronaldo.

The hotel costs $1.6 billion (Tk 19,414 crore) to develop and features 17 restaurants, several run by internationally recognised chefs.

With its combination of large-scale investment, high-profile marketing and a location on one of Dubai’s most recognisable developments, Atlantis the Royal has quickly joined the city’s list of luxury tourism landmarks.
