During Ramadan, many people leave their offices on time but get caught in traffic congestion and are unable to reach home before iftar. To ease the hardship of such commuters, supermarket chain Shwapno has taken a special initiative.
Ahead of iftar and at iftar time, Shwapno is distributing dates and sherbet free of cost to pedestrians, the public and working people. The service will continue throughout the month of Ramadan, reads a press release.
Shwapno authorities said the initiative is a small effort to support people who fail to return home in time due to traffic jams and other city-related challenges.
The initiative has been taken considering social responsibility, particularly for those who are unable to reach home on time for iftar.
It is worth mentioning that the free iftar service is being provided daily to around 1,600 people from a total of 44 Shwapno outlets in Dhaka and outside the capital.
