Arifin Shuvoo, who married Arpita Samaddar out of love, saw his eight-year marriage end on July 20 last year. Since then, rumours of a romantic link between the popular actor and actress Jannatul Ferdous Oishee have circulated. While Shuvoo has remained silent, Oishee has consistently laughed off the speculation.
The rumours resurfaced on Tuesday when both posted pictures of each other on Facebook almost simultaneously, accompanied by seemingly romantic captions. Shuvoo wrote: “I love you so much and I will tell you how many times,” while Oishee posted: “If you are hurt once, I will die a hundred times.”
Fans quickly reacted, with many commenting that the posts confirmed the rumours, and some even speculating the duo had gotten married.
Despite the online buzz, Shuvoo dismissed the speculation. “Oishee is just a good colleague of mine. We have acted in several films together. Why do these rumours come up?” he said.
Insiders suggest the posts are linked to the promotion of their upcoming film Noor, which is set to release on an OTT platform. Shooting for ‘Noor’ began under Shapla Media, but the film was delayed even after receiving censor approval in 2022.
In June 2024, the new production company Quiet and Set acquired the project and began planning its release. After several discussions between the director, actors and producers, it was decided that Noor would bypass cinemas and premiere on the Bioscope app, either on November 28 or in the second week of December.
Initially, both Shuvoo and Oishee preferred a theatrical release but eventually agreed to the OTT route. They recently participated in a photoshoot to promote the film, with images released on Tuesday alongside their posts.
Director Raihan Rafi explained the move to OTT, “After watching Noor, which was shot some time ago, I felt the OTT platform would suit it better. The audience will also have a good experience. There’s no other special reason.”
The timing of the actors’ social media posts appears to be a strategic part of the film’s promotional campaign rather than confirmation of a romantic relationship.
