Bangladesh ended the two day President’s Challenge Cup Archery with one gold and one silver medal at the Tongi Archery Training Academy on Sunday.
Sima Akter Shimu won the gold in the recurve mixed team event. Ram Krishna Saha added a silver medal in the recurve men’s individual event.
Shimu teamed up with Malaysia’s Muhammad Danish Amsyar in the mixed team final. They dominated the match and beat their opponents 6 0 on set points to take the title.
Ram Krishna also reached the final of the men’s recurve event. He made a bright start by winning the first set against Bhutan’s Tshering Kinley. But he could not keep the lead. Kinley fought back and won the match 6 2 on set points. Ram Krishna finished with the silver medal.
China’s Muzi Li won the women’s recurve individual title after beating a fellow Chinese archer in the final.
Bangladesh also had two archers in the recurve Under 18 women’s individual event. Sonali Roy finished sixth. Sayma Salah Uddin ended the competition in seventh place. The title went to the United Arab Emirates’ Samia, who beat India’s Anandrao Gatha in a close final.
In the recurve Under 18 men’s individual event, Bangladesh’s Imtiaz Amin Fatemi Fuad reached the semifinals and finished fourth overall. India’s Balaji won the gold medal after beating the Philippines’ Mark General in the final.
