Shaun Tait said he was proud of Bangladesh’s fast bowlers after stepping down as the national team’s bowling coach.
The Bangladesh Cricket Board announced on Thursday that Tait had resigned from his role due to family reasons. The former Australia fast bowler had been working with Bangladesh since May 2025.
Tait said leaving the job was a difficult decision. He thanked the BCB for supporting him during discussions over his future.
“It has been a privilege to work with the Bangladesh National Team and to be part of a talented and committed group of players and support staff,” Tait said.
“This was not an easy decision, and I sincerely appreciate the understanding and support shown by the BCB throughout our discussions.”
Tait played an important role in the growth of Bangladesh’s pace attack. During his time with the team, the fast bowlers improved their skills and became more effective across all formats.
The 43 year old said he was pleased with the progress made by the bowlers and believes they can achieve even more in the future.
“I am proud of what the pace bowlers have achieved and I believe they have an exciting future ahead,” he said.
The BCB said Tait had informed the board about his family situation. He had shown interest in continuing with a reduced workload, but both sides later agreed that stepping down was the best decision.
Tait was also part of a successful period for Bangladesh cricket. The team produced several strong performances during his tenure.
Before ending his message, Tait wished the national team well for the future.
“I wish the team every success going forward.”
