Md Shamim Jahangir, editor of Just Energy News, has been elected president of the Chittagong Journalists Forum–Dhaka (CJFD), with RTV special correspondent Touhidur Rahman chosen as general secretary for the 2026–2028 term.
The new committee was unanimously declared folliowing a special general meeting held at the CJFD office in Sandip Bhaban, Fakirapool, on Saturday afternoon.
Other office-bearers include Vice President Morshed Noman, Joint General Secretary Tarek Sikder of Boishakhi TV, Finance Secretary Touhidul Islam Rana of Independent TV, Office Secretary Shahriar Hasan of Channel One, and Sports and Culture Affairs Secretary MA Ahad Shaheen of Dainik Amar Desh.
Executive members of the committee are Mujib Masud (Jugantar), Jagaran Chakma (The Daily Star), Naimuddin (RisingBD), Humayun Kabir (Jugantar), Qamar Uddin (freelancer), Prosenjit Chowdhury (Dainik Janata), and Shipankar Sheel (Times of Bangladesh).
Outgoing committee president Mujib Masud chaired the meeting, while Chief Election Commissioner senior journalist Mesbah Uddin Jongi Chowdhury formally announced the new committee in the presence of election commissioners Masumur Rahman Khalili and Saif Islam Dilal.
Journalists Mostafa Kamal, Anup Dastagir, Shahed Siddiqui, Momena Akhter Popy, Saif Uddin, and Mumin Uddin Khaled, among others, attended the session.
