Protesters have blocked Shahbagh intersection in the capital, demanding justice for Inqilab Moncho Spokesperson Sharif Osman Hadi murder.
The blockade began after Jummah prayers on Friday under the leadership of Inqilab Mancha.
Earlier, a protest procession was brought out demanding punishment for those responsible for Hadi’s murder. The procession later reached at Shahbagh and launched a blockade, shutting down traffic.
Inqilab Mancha member secretary Abdullah Al Jaber said, “From today, this Shahbagh will be known as Shaheed Osman Hadi Chattar. Our movement will continue until justice is ensured for the killing of Hadi.”
In the morning, the verified Facebook page of Inqilab Mancha called for nationwide prayers, as well as protest processions after Jummah prayers, seeking eternal peace for martyred Osman Hadi and justice for his killing.
On 12 December, two assailants riding a motorcycle shot Hadi on Box Culvert Road in the capital’s Bijoynagar area. He later succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment.
