Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Shafiqur Rahman on Wednesday condemned the reported harassment and attacks on party activists in Pirerbagh, Mirpur, saying such actions are unacceptable and no individual or political party has the right to carry them out.
Visiting the injured at a local hospital, party Ameer urged that any violations of the electoral code of conduct should be reported to the proper authorities for action.
“No individual or party has the right to create mobs. Jamaat strongly condemns such disorderly behavior,” he said.
He added, “We want to ensure that such incidents end here. People are now more aware, and the days of influencing public opinion through mobs are over.”
Shafiqur Rahman stressed that political engagement should be conducted peacefully and transparently, “Everyone should present their commitments and work to the public. Voters will decide whom to trust based on past, present, and future actions.”
Highlighting Jamaat’s electoral goals, he said, “Our mission is clear. We aim to build a corruption-free, just society where misrule and fascism have no place. This is why we are participating together in the upcoming two elections.”
Addressing the 300 candidates taking part in the polls, the Jamaat leader urged them to respect voters’ decisions and ensure that citizens can cast their ballots freely and peacefully.
