The Khagrachhari district administration has announced that Section 144 will be withdrawn from the district at 6am on Sunday, as normalcy has started to return in the region.
To this effect, the authorities concerned issued a notification on Saturday.
The announcement of the restriction’s withdrawal came after the Jumma Chhatra Janata fully lifted the road blockade, previously enforced in protest of alleged rape of a schoolgirl.
Earlier, Section 144 was imposed in Khagrachhari municipality and Sadar and Guimara upazilas.
However, the Jumma Chhatra Janata threatened that an indefinite programme would be launched if their demands are not fulfilled.
Demonstrations, rallies, and blockades were staged by Jumma student groups demanding the arrest and exemplary punishment of the perpetrators.
