Chhayanaut has elected a new executive committee with a pledge to strengthen its activities across the country and further promote Bengali cultural values. Sarwar Ali has been re-elected as president, while Laisa Ahmed Lisa will continue as general secretary.
The election took place at the organisation’s annual general meeting held on Friday at the Ramesh Chandra Dutta Memorial Hall of Chhayanaut’s cultural building in Dhanmondi, Dhaka. Members elected 15 office-bearers, including the president and general secretary, for a three-year term. They also elected a six-member advisory council for the same period.
Khairul Anam Shakil and Partha Tanveer Naved were elected vice-presidents. Jayanta Roy and Tania Mannan will serve as joint general secretaries, while Nasihun Amin was elected treasurer.
The executive committee also includes Mofidul Hoque, Sahana Akhter Rahman Papri, Nahas Khalil, Zubair Yusuf, Jesmin Buli, Shashanka Sadi, Sharmin Sathi Islam and Mahua Manjari Sunanda as members.
The newly elected advisory council comprises Selina Malek Chowdhury, Iffat Ara Dewan, Shaheen Samad, Sultana Kamal, Ramendu Majumder and Shyamoli Nasrin Chowdhury.
