Bangladesh made a shaky start in the series decider against New Zealand in Chattogram. After 10 overs, they are 36 for 3.
New Zealand captain Tom Latham chose to bowl on a fresh pitch that looked good for batting. Bangladesh captain Mehidy Hasan Miraz had said, “I wouldn’t mind batting first here. It’s a beautiful pitch to bat on.” But the early overs told a different story.
Will O’Rourke led the charge with the ball. He struck in his second delivery. Saif Hassan edged one behind, and Latham took a sharp catch.
O’Rourke stayed on top. He removed Tanzid Hasan Tamim soon after. The opener chopped a good length ball onto his stumps.
Soumya Sarkar and Najmul Hossain Shanto tried to rebuild. Soumya looked positive. He played a few clean cover drives. But he fell for 18. He also chopped one onto the stumps off O’Rourke.
Bangladesh are now under pressure in a must win game. They need a strong stand from Shanto and the middle order to recover from this early collapse.
