A court has granted an application to seize income tax-related documents of Fatema Begum, a High Assistant of Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha (RAJUK).
On Sunday, Judge Md Sabbir Fayez of the Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge’s Court passed the order following an application by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC). The matter was confirmed by the court’s bench assistant, Md Riaz Hossain.
He said the court, after hearing, granted the ACC’s application and permitted the seizure and review of the relevant income tax documents. The case was filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC). Investigation activities are ongoing.
According to case information, Fatema Begum was instructed to submit a statement of all movable and immovable assets acquired by her and her dependents within a stipulated time. However, she did not submit the asset statement within 21 working days. Consequently, a case was filed against her.
The investigating officer of this case, Mohammad Mizanur Rahman Mollah, applied to the court, stating that for the sake of a fair investigation, permission was needed to seize and review all income tax documents from the start of the accused’s Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN) up to the 2025-26 tax year.
