The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is set to take strict action against former cricketer and ex-women’s team selector Manjurul Islam Manju following an independent investigation that substantiated two sexual harassment complaints made by former captain Jahanara Alam.

On 4 February, the independent committee submitted its report after examining four allegations submitted by Jahanara while Manjur was in China. Two of the complaints were found unproven, but the other two were supported by evidence. The committee concluded that Manjur’s conduct in these cases was inconsistent with professional standards, falling within the Supreme Court guidelines for misconduct and harassment.

At an online board meeting on Sunday afternoon, the BCB decided to ban Manjur from all forms of cricket in the country. Sources have confirmed to Times of Bangladesh that the board will also provide legal support to Jahanara if required, although an official announcement is yet to be made.

The allegations first came to light in a YouTube interview on 7 November 2025, in which Jahanara accused the former selector and women’s team manager of sexual harassment. The interview created significant attention and discussion across the Bangladeshi cricket community.

On 9 January 2026, the BCB formed a three-member independent investigation committee, led by former Supreme Court Appellate Division judge Tarik Ul Haqim, later expanded to five members. After three delays, the final report was submitted to the BCB on 2 February and handed to the board president by Tarik Ul Haqim. Following the report, the BCB has initiated procedures to take necessary action in line with existing laws and board regulations.
