Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested Abdul Gafur, leader of a robbery gang, during an operation in Teknaf upazila of Cox’s Bazar.
The force seized a locally made one‑shooter gun (LG) and one round of rifle ammunition.
ASP AM Faruk, Assistant Director (Law and Media) of RAB‑15, confirmed the arrest Monday. Acting on a tip‑off, RAB‑15 of Teknaf camp raided Gafur’s residence in Baharchhara union. Sensing their presence, Gafur tried to flee but was caught, the official added.
Faruk said Gafur is the leader of the “Gafur Bandit Group.” He was sentenced to five years’ imprisonment in a narcotics case and is also accused in cases of assault and attempted murder.
RAB handed him over to Teknaf Model Police Station.
