Punjabi singer and writer Baljeet Singh was found dead inside his home in Sudhar Patti Dhaliwal village in Ludhiana on Thursday, 3 September.

According to News18, Singh lived alone and his family had not heard from him for several days. Neighbours reportedly noticed a foul smell coming from the house and alerted police. Officers from Sudhar police station reached the scene and found his body on a bed.

Blood stains were reportedly found at several places inside the house. The condition of the body led police to suspect that Singh may have died four to five days before it was discovered.

Police are investigating the death as a possible murder. However, the exact cause of death remains unclear and the postmortem report is awaited.

Investigators are searching the house and surrounding area for evidence. They are also examining CCTV footage from nearby areas.

Police are trying to establish Singh’s movements during the days he was reportedly missing. They are also working to identify anyone who may have visited or interacted with him during that period.

The exact cause of death will be determined after the postmortem examination. The investigation remains underway.

Singh’s death comes days after another killing involving a regional singer. Haryanvi singer Ankit Balyan was reportedly shot dead outside a gym in Shamli.

Balyan was reportedly leaving the gym when attackers opened fire, shooting around 20 times before fleeing. He suffered critical injuries and was taken to hospital, but doctors could not save him and declared him dead on arrival.

A native of Bantikhera, Balyan had built a following through Haryanvi music, YouTube videos and podcasts. His music focused largely on regional identity and the desi lifestyle, with themes including rural pride, youth culture, local politics and power.

He gained significant recognition for his song Bhari Court Mein Goli Maarenge Meri Jaan. His other songs included 112 NE, Goli Ke Barood, Jaat Jatni, Agla Janam Jaat, Savidhan, Modi Barga Rutba, Jaat Dharmender Ki Tariya, Ek Khtola Jail Ke Bhitar, Wait, System and Riflein.
