BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Thursday said he expects the pro-people forces of the country to ensure the victory of the BNP in the upcoming 13th National Parliamentary Election.
Speaking to reporters at the BNP chairperson’s office in Gulshan, Mirza Fakhrul said the widespread public affection for former prime minister and BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia would further strengthen the party.
He said Khaleda Zia had struggled throughout her life for the restoration of democracy, endured imprisonment, and remained in the country despite prolonged illness. “Her love for the country and its people has deeply touched the nation,” he said.
Referring to her passing, the BNP secretary general said the country was plunged into grief at a time when her guidance was needed most. “People from all walks of life gathered at her funeral prayer, shedding tears and carrying the hope that her departure would inspire the nation to fulfill its duty to restore democracy,” he added.
On the election, Mirza Fakhrul said the forces aligned with the country would ensure a free, fair and neutral poll and lead BNP to victory.
He further said the love shown toward Khaleda Zia would make the BNP stronger, adding that people believe the leadership of BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman will help consolidate independence, sovereignty and democracy.
