A voting centre in Singair Upazila, Manikganj, has become the centre of local controversy after provocative political slogans were found written on its walls.
The perpetrators remain unidentified, sparking curiosity and concern among residents.
The incident occurred late Tuesday night at the Islam Nagar Government Primary School in Talebpur Union, where several walls around the polling station were marked with political messages, including “Joy Bangla,” “No Vote,” “What vote without Sheikh Hasina,” “What vote without the boat,” and “My symbol is the boat.”
The slogans were noticed by locals on Wednesday morning, and photos quickly spread on social media, fuelling public debate.
Residents suspect that miscreants acted under the cover of darkness. While the motive remains uncertain, many believe the act was intended to create tension or confusion in the election environment.
The Islam Nagar centre is considered one of the key polling stations in the upcoming election.
The appearance of political slogans on its walls has drawn mixed reactions from voters. Concerned citizens have called for a swift investigation to identify the culprits and take legal action.
Nazmul Haque Rony, Secretary of Talebpur Union Jubo Dal, described the incident as a deliberate attempt to undermine the election.
“This is a planned conspiracy to question the credibility of the election. Whoever is behind it, they will not succeed. We will prevent such mischief,” he said.
Abdul Hai, President of Talebpur Union BNP, said, “Upon hearing the news, we visited the site. We do not know who wrote the slogans. Whoever is involved, even if a relative or someone from our party, must face legal action through the administration.”
Officer-in-Charge of Singair Police Station, Md Majharul Islam, confirmed that the site had been inspected.
“Efforts are underway to identify those responsible. Legal action will follow based on the information collected,” he said.
