Two people, including an assistant presiding officer, were killed and five others injured when a mini-truck collided with a CNG-run auto-rickshaw on the Sherpur-Jamalpur road at Shimultoli in Sadar upazila of Sherpur district on Wednesday.
The deceased were identified as Md Rokonuzzaman, 31, assistant presiding officer at Sherpur Government Girls’ High School, and Mahfuza Begum, 19, wife of Nirob Mia from Jamalpur district.
The accident occurred around 9 am near Jamalpur Bridge when the mini-truck crashed into the auto-rickshaw, killing Rokonuzzaman instantly and injuring six others, according to Sohel Rana, officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station.
Mahfuza succumbed to her injuries on the way to Mymensingh Medical College and Hospital, while the others were admitted to Mymensingh Medical College and Hospital and Sherpur Upazila Health Complex.
