The government has approved 200 additional beds for the National Institute of Cancer Research and Hospital (NICRH) in Dhaka, raising the facility’s total capacity to 700 beds.
The Health Services Division of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare issued an order on Wednesday approving the expansion and the launch of services in the additional beds.
An official order signed by Health Services Division Deputy Secretary Kazi Sharif Uddin Ahmed said the administrative approval was granted following the Finance Division’s consent on 10 September.
The approval is subject to compliance with all relevant rules, regulations and formalities, the order said.
Earlier, the Finance Division issued a letter on 10 September giving its consent to increase the NICRH’s capacity from 500 to 700 beds and launch services in the additional 200 beds.
The letter, signed by Deputy Secretary Shukla Sarkar, approved the proposal for the 200-bed expansion at the cancer hospital in Mohakhali.
