He said this as the chief guest at the orientation ceremony for fresher students of the 21st batch for the 2025–26 academic session, held on Wednesday on the ground adjacent to the Science Building of Jagannath University (JnU).
Organised by the JnU branch of Bangladesh Jatiotabadi Chhatra Dal, the event was attended by around 2,100 registered fresher students.
Addressing the gathering, the education minister said that the youth generation represents the future of Bangladesh, urging fresher students to set clear targets for their future from now on and properly utilise their merit, skills, and knowledge.
He emphasised that university education must not remain confined to textbook knowledge alone, but must instead prepare students with practical skills, innovation, and employability.
To achieve this, opportunities to acquire skills in technical education, AI, robotics, nanotechnology, and other modern technologies must be expanded.
Milon further highlighted the necessity of establishing effective linkages between industrial enterprises and educational institutions so that students can advance their education and career preparation simultaneously.
He said that if young people are developed through proper education and skills, they will play a vital role in national development while showcasing their capabilities in the global job market.
Emphasising time-befitting reforms across the education system, the minister called for spreading technology-driven and skill-based education from primary to higher education levels, while preparing students according to the demands of the future job market.
“Today’s students will run tomorrow’s Bangladesh. Therefore, preparation must begin from now to build a prosperous, skilled, and developed Bangladesh by properly utilising merit and qualifications,” he remarked.
The ceremony was presided over by Jagannath University Chhatra Dal Convenor Mehdi Hasan Himel. Member of Parliament for Madaripur-3 constituency Anisur Rahman Talukder Khokon, Jagannath University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Md Rais Uddin, Treasurer Professor Dr Sabina Sharmin, and Bangladesh Jatiotabadi Chhatra Dal Central Committee President Md Rakibul Islam Rakib attended the event as special guests.
