Army personnel arrested three people and recovered several firearms, ammunition, and walkie‑talkies from their possession in a special joint operation in Ukhiya upazila of Cox’s Bazar.
During the operation, the troops seized one foreign‑made pistol, one AK‑22 rifle, one locally made pistol, two single‑barrel guns, two locally made sharp weapons, one pistol magazine, two rifle magazines, four rounds of pistol ammunition, 89 rounds of rifle ammunition, two cartridges, and two sets of walkie‑talkies.
The operation was carried out in Ward No. 1 of the Balukhali area early Wednesday on the basis of specific intelligence information.
The arrestees are Amin, son of Julu alias Julu Dakat, who is a suspected drug trader; his bodyguard Jane Alam; and another unidentified man.
Ukhiya Police Station’s Officer‑in‑charge (OC) Nur Ahmed said such operations will continue ahead of the 13th parliamentary election to ensure safety and maintain law and order.
