Preity Zinta has called out a paparazzo page for suggesting that she ignored Aamir Khan during the promotions of her upcoming film Batwara 1947, writes Hindustan Times.
The actor is currently promoting the film alongside co-star Sunny Deol and producer Aamir Khan.
A video from a promotional event recently went viral after an Instagram paparazzo page claimed that Preity had deliberately ignored Aamir.
The video shows Preity stepping out of her vanity van and appearing confused about where she was supposed to go amid a crowd of photographers.
She asks, “Ek min guys, kahan jaana hai?” before following the photographers’ directions.
Aamir was standing outside his vanity van nearby, but Preity appeared not to notice him as she walked past.
The paparazzo page captioned the clip, “Oh no, Preity Zinta ignored Aamir Khan?”
Preity responded to the post, calling the caption misleading and criticising the page for creating unnecessary negativity.
“This kind of clickbait content is not cool,” she wrote. Explaining what happened, she said she did not see Aamir because she was “in a rush to shoot some shots inside” before catching a flight for Batwara 1947 promotions.
She further warned the page against creating negative narratives, adding, “Next time pls don’t expect me to stop and take pictures if your intent is to promote any kind of negativity!”
Preity also made it clear that she shares a warm relationship with Aamir, writing, “I have a LOT of love & respect for Aamir, so this is not in good taste.”
Batwara 1947 marks Preity’s return to the big screen after an eight-year break. She was last seen in Bhaiaji Superhit in 2018.
Directed by Rajkumar Santoshi, the period drama also stars Sunny Deol, Shabana Azmi, Ali Fazal, Karan Deol, Abhimanyu Singh, Kanikka Kapir and Khushi Hajare.
Set in Lahore against the backdrop of the 1947 Partition, the film explores the division of India and Punjab.
Aamir Khan is backing the project under Aamir Khan Productions.
Batwara 1947 is scheduled to release in theatres on 14 August.
Speaking about her hiatus, Preity said she did not miss acting, as she was enjoying family life and adjusting to motherhood.
She described having children as her “greatest milestone” beyond her professional achievements.
