Veteran Bollywood actor Naseeruddin Shah is known for his frank and fearless opinions. His honesty has often strained relationships within the industry, but that’s never stopped him.
Recently, an old interview of his resurfaced on social media, where he openly discussed the acting of some of Bollywood’s biggest stars. In that conversation, he managed to both praise and criticize Shah Rukh Khan (SRK).
“I don’t watch films of the Khans, Kumars, or Devgans — nor do I try to,” Shah said in the interview. “I’ve worked with many of them, but none have particularly impressed me.”
However, he did have words of respect for Akshay Kumar. “I admire Akshay a lot,” he said. “He made his place in the industry without a godfather or any major backing. After so many years, his performances now reflect real skill.”
When the interviewer pointed out that Shah Rukh Khan too had risen without any godfather, Naseeruddin acknowledged it, saying, “Yes, and that’s exactly why I have deep respect for Shah Rukh. But the truth is, he’s become a monotonous and rather boring actor.”
It’s worth noting that Naseeruddin Shah has shared the screen with both stars; with Akshay Kumar in ‘Mohra’ and with Shah Rukh Khan in films like ‘Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa’ and ‘Main Hoon Na’.
