Actor Pori Moni has reacted to Argentina’s defeat in the FIFA World Cup final with a light-hearted social media post, saying she no longer has to get married after the team’s loss to Spain.
Before the final, the actor had announced that she would marry again if Argentina won the World Cup.
Following Spain’s 1-0 victory on Sunday night, Pori Moni wrote on social media: “Looks like I don’t have to get married after all. My beloved Argentina, we’ll meet again.”
The World Cup final at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey remained goalless after the regulation 90 minutes before Spain found the breakthrough in extra time.
Substitute Ferran Torres scored the decisive goal to seal Spain’s World Cup triumph. Despite a late push led by Lionel Messi, 10-man Argentina failed to find an equaliser.
Argentina were reduced to 10 players after Enzo Fernández received two yellow cards during the match, allowing Spain to begin extra time with a numerical advantage.
Early in the second half of extra time, Pedro Porro delivered a cross from the right.
Nico Williams controlled the ball at the far post before laying it off to Torres, who beat goalkeeper Emiliano Martínez with a powerful right-footed volley.
Torres scored the winner in the 106th minute to hand Spain a 1-0 victory.
He became only the fifth substitute to score in a FIFA World Cup final and the first to do so since Germany’s Mario Götze in the 2014 final.
