IPDC Finance PLC has provided power support to the Department of Music at the University of Dhaka (DU) to help maintain uninterrupted academic activities during the ongoing heatwave, as part of its IPDC Amader Gaan music initiative.
The support aims to create a more comfortable learning environment for students and allow regular classes and academic activities to continue without disruption, the company said in a press release on Wednesday.
Dr Priyanka Gope, Chairman and Associate Professor of the Department of Music at the University of Dhaka, appreciated the initiative, saying the support would help students continue their music education during a challenging period.
“We sincerely appreciate IPDC Finance for extending this thoughtful and timely support to our department. This initiative has been warmly received by our students, particularly at a time when the prevailing heat is making regular academic activities challenging,” she said.
The initiative is aligned with IPDC Amader Gaan, IPDC Finance’s flagship music platform focused on celebrating and promoting Bangladesh’s musical heritage, particularly its folk traditions.
Rizwan Dawood Shams, Managing Director of IPDC Finance PLC, said supporting institutions and individuals working to preserve the country’s cultural heritage is a responsibility the company values.
“Music is an integral part of Bangladesh’s cultural identity, and supporting those who nurture and carry this heritage forward is a responsibility we value deeply,” he said.
Through IPDC Amader Gaan, the company has been working to promote traditional Bangladeshi music and create platforms for artists and music enthusiasts, while the support to the Department of Music aims to strengthen the continuity of music education.
The Department of Music at the University of Dhaka has long contributed to the formal education and development of musicians and music practitioners in Bangladesh.
