Prime Minister Tarique Rahman will hold a meeting at state guest house, Jamuna, with top leaders of political parties allied in the simultaneous movement.
A dinner and exchange of views have been arranged in their honor at the state guest house Jamuna on Monday night.
Atikur Rahman Ruman, additional press secretary to the prime minister, said the programme will begin around 7:30pm.
More than 150 senior leaders from various political parties involved in the movement have been invited. Invitation letters signed by the prime minister have already been delivered to the invitees.
He added that alongside the dinner, the premier will exchange greetings with leaders of the allied parties. Members of the BNP’s standing committee will also be present at the event.
Sources said Jamaat-e-Islami was not invited as it is not part of the simultaneous movement.
This marks the first formal meeting between the prime minister and leaders of allied parties since the BNP formed government after the 13th Parliamentary Election. Political analysts believe the meeting could play a significant role in strengthening future coordination and political relations between the government and its allies.
Allies in the movement include JSD of Ganatantra Mancha, Nagorik Oikya, Revolutionary Workers Party, Ganosamhati Andolon, Rashtra Sangskar Andolon, various parties of the 12-party alliance, LDP, Kalyan Party, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam, National Democratic Movement (NDM), JAGPA, Gono Forum, AB Party, Bangladesh Peoples Party, parties of Ganatantrik Bam Oikya, CPB, BASAD, Revolutionary Communist League, National Ganofront, Hefazat-e-Islam, Islami Andolon, Khilafat Majlish, Islami Oikya Jote, and several other political organizations.
It should be noted that these allied parties played an active role in the simultaneous movement led by the BNP against the Sheikh Hasina government through unified programmes. As part of the long struggle, the Awami League government was toppled on 5 August 2024 following a mass uprising.
