Prime Minister Tarique Rahman is scheduled to visit Chattogram on 9 August. During his visit, he will inaugurate Prime Minister Gold Cup Football Tournament at Chattogram District Sports Association (CJKS) Stadium, located in the city’s Kazir Dewri area.
Nazimur Rahman, the member secretary of Chattogram Metropolitan BNP, confirmed the visit on Tuesday.
According to relevant sources, Tarique will formally open the nationwide tournament. Preliminary preparations at the stadium have already commenced, and officials indicate that the tentative schedule for the visit has been largely finalised.
In anticipation of the visit, coordination and preparatory activities have begun among local administration, law enforcement agencies, and organisers. The respective departments are currently working on security arrangements, venue preparation, and overall management.
However, the full programme for the PM’s visit, including other potential events and the formal itinerary, has not yet been released. Officials said the detailed schedule will be made public once it receives final approval.
