Prime Minister Tarique Rahman will visit Mymensingh on Saturday, where he will inaugurate the 127th birth anniversary programme of National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam in Trishal.
He will leave Dhaka at 9am by road for Trishal, according to the programme schedule.
At 12pm, he will inaugurate a canal excavation programme in Trishal. Later at 3pm, he will formally open the Nazrul birth anniversary celebrations at the Nazrul Academy ground in Trishal.
In the afternoon, he will hold a meeting with leaders of the Mymensingh South and North district BNP at the Nazrul Auditorium in Trishal.
He will leave for Dhaka at around 6:30pm.
Mymensingh district administration has already completed preparations ahead of the Prime Minister’s visit.
Officials said Trishal, which is closely linked with the memory of National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam, will host national-level celebrations of his birth anniversary after many years.
Local residents are witnessing a festive mood around the programme.
A three-day Nazrul Jayanti programme includes a fair at the Nazrul Academy ground in Trishal.
Discussions and cultural events are also being held throughout the day at the Nazrul stage on the same ground.
