Prime Minister’s Adviser Mahdi Amin has said that Tarique Rahman is the elected prime minister of Bangladesh with an absolute mandate from the people, but his true identity goes beyond that power, as his core strength lies in public engagement, accountability and humanity.
In a post on his Facebook page on Saturday, Mahdi Amin said that despite holding the highest office of the state, the simplicity and restraint reflected in the prime minister’s movement, speech and attire are rare in contemporary history.
He said the prime minister has prioritised staying close to the people over wealth and grandeur, which has made him a unique public leader.
Mahdi Amin wrote, “There was a time when the prime minister was seen as someone beyond reach, surrounded by impenetrable walls of VVIP protocol. Breaking that perception, the current prime minister has come down to the level of ordinary people. He has become someone very close to the people, embracing the problems and realities of millions.”
Mahdi Amin also said that beyond state duties, the prime minister’s family life is very simple, with his wife and daughter being the main sources of his mental strength.
This family bond motivates him to remain deeply engaged in public service, he said, adding that even amid large crowds at public gatherings, his steady gaze towards his mother’s photograph reflects his spiritual connection with the people.
He is now seen as a member of every family — a source of reliability like a father to some, as close as a brother to others, or as sincere as a neighbour to many.
The adviser further said that despite decades of propaganda and conspiracies against Tarique Rahman, he has strengthened his position through every trial.
He added that public love continues to guide the path of the BNP, and today the vision of building a prosperous and self-reliant Bangladesh revolves around him.
