A youth has died by suicide and his body has been recovered from a flat in Dhaka’s Bangshal Kayettuli area early Wednesday.
The deceased, Anik Pal, 21, was a student of the Department of Drawing and Painting at Jagannath University.
His roommates found him unconscious around 12am and took him to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead.
Bangshal Police Station Sub-Inspector Md Rubel Hossain said Anik and some classmates lived in a mess on the fourth floor of a building on BK Ganguly Lane in Kayettuli. Anik was alone after Tuesday noon. After 10pm, his roommates returned and found him hanging.
They broke down the door, rescued him and took him to the hospital.
A note was recovered from his room, where he mentioned he would go blind after some days. He had been worried about these issues.
The reason behind the death is being investigated further. The family has been informed and is coming to Dhaka from their village.
