A mild heatwave is sweeping across several parts of the country, while the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has forecast rain in different areas over the next 24 hours.
“A mild heatwave is sweeping over Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions and the districts of Dhaka, Tangail, Manikgonj, Kishoregonj, Rajshahi, Sirajgonj, Rangpur, Nilphamari, Chandpur, Feni, Jashore, Chuadanga, Kushtia, Satkhira, Khulna, Barishal & Patuakhali and it may abate from some places,” said a Met office bulletin issued this morning.
The weather office forecast light to moderate rain and thundershowers, accompanied by temporary gusty winds, at many places in Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions during the period from 9am on Wednesday.
“Light to moderate rain/thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at many places over Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh, Chattogram & Sylhet divisions and at a few places over Dhaka, Khulna & Barishal divisions,” the bulletin said.
It also forecast moderately heavy rainfall at places in Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions.
Day and night temperatures may fall slightly across the country.
Feni recorded the highest temperature at 37.5 degrees Celsius on Tuesday, while Bandarban recorded today’s lowest temperature at 24 degrees Celsius.
Bandarban received the highest rainfall of 42 millimetres in the 24 hours until 6am on Wednesday.
In Dhaka, the sun will set at 6:01pm on Wednesday and rise at 5:45am on Thursday.
