Prime Minister Tarique Rahman reached Cox’s Bazar on Saturday morning for a daylong visit to attend development and environmental programmes.
His Additional Press Secretary Atikur Rahman Rumon said he landed at Cox’s Bazar International Airport at 9:50am on a commercial flight and went directly to Pmkhali union to inaugurate the re‑excavation of the Patali Canal and address a public gathering.
Tarique is scheduled to visit Dulahazara Safari Park, launch a nationwide tree‑planting drive at Malumghat Reserved Forest, and pay respects at the grave of July 2024 uprising fighter Md Wasim Akram in Pekua.
He will also lay foundation stones for Pekua Municipality and Matamuhuri upazila.
In the afternoon, he will speak at a BNP rally in Chakaria, inspect Marine Drive and Cox’s Bazar sea beach, and meet citizens at a hotel before returning to Dhaka in the evening.
This marks his first trip to Cox’s Bazar since becoming prime minister after the BNP’s victory in the 13th parliamentary election on 12 February.
