A man died after attempting to get off a moving train at Jamtoil Railway Station in Kamarkhand Upazila in Sirajganj on early Sunday.
The victim was identified as Majnu Mia, 42, Sirajganj Bazar Railway Police Station Officer-in-Charge Dulal Uddin confirmed.
According to railway station officials, the accident occurred when the Panchagarh-bound Drutojan Express from Dhaka was pulling into the station. Before the train had come to a complete stop, Majnu attempted to get off. He slipped and fell, sustaining severe injuries to his head and both legs.
Station staff immediately rescued him and sent him to Sirajganj 250-bed General Hospital, where doctors declared him dead shortly after arrival.
Jamtoil Railway Station’s stationmaster Abu Hannan said they learned of the accident after the train had departed.
“The victim was critically injured when we found him, and he was taken to hospital, where he died an hour later,” he said.
Sirajganj Bazar Railway Police Station Officer-in-Charge Dulal Uddin said the body was handed over to the family on Sunday morning.
