Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Mosleh Uddin Ahmed has announced that the Gulistan and Fulbaria bus terminals will be shifted to Chunkutia in Keraniganj within the next three months.
He made the statement on Saturday morning while inspecting the newly allocated site for the Mohakhali bus terminal. Leaders of the Bus Owners Association also visited the site.
During the inspection, a new plot capable of accommodating 80 buses was formally handed over.
Speaking at the event, DMP Commissioner Mosleh Uddin said the government is working to separate bus depots from terminals. Under the plan, the Mohakhali bus terminal will remain at its current location, while its depot will be relocated to Purbachal.
Highlighting that the Gulistan and Fulbaria terminals are major contributors to traffic congestion in the capital, the commissioner reiterated that shifting them to Chunkutia in Keraniganj within three months and separating terminals from depots would significantly improve traffic conditions.
A special exchange-of-views meeting was held to review the progress of development activities related to overall traffic management at the Mohakhali terminal.
The event was attended by MP Shamsur Rahman Shimul Biswas, Additional Police Commissioner (Traffic) Anisur Rahman, and Bangladesh Road Transport Workers Federation Secretary General Humayun Kabir Khan.
Furthermore, the DMP commissioner assured that police drives to arrest those involved in the attack during an eviction operation in Mirpur-8 would continue.
